20 Years, Ladies and Gentlemen!

Today my wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary.

Seems like it was just yesterday. (Although, I'm glad it's not because we couldn't afford imitation butter. Or food. Or clothes. Or gas. However, there always seemed to be enough money for my cigarettes. No. I don't smoke anymore. Relax.)

20 years has gone by incredibly fast. Too fast.

And here we are.

Thank you, darling wife.

Here's to 20 more.

  1. Congratulations. My own parents have been married for near 37 years now. I would love to know what that feels like. To be able to start your own family, have a house, bills, kids screaming in your ear because they want the cereal with the marshmallows in it, not your Oldy McOldMan fiber cereal.(Who needs regularity?) But alas my state has decided because of what I am that I'm not allowed to marry or have a family. So I have to dream, and live vicariously. Family is a precious gift. It should never be taken for granted.

  5. Yay! Congrats! You should post an entry telling us the secrets to a long and happy marriage. I believe the twenty year mark means you qualify for such an entry. I've been married 5 years, been with the same guy 8 years. We were high school sweethearts.

I hope that when I've been married 20 years that I'll still get mistaken for a teenager. That way people will look like they're going to have a heart attack when I tell them. More so than they already do.

  6. Coming in a little late on this, but congrats to you and your wife for achieving 20 years of marriage.

My wife and I celebrate a mere 4 years together in June, and wow can we ever empathize with not being able to afford imitation butter and other such luxuries after having gone through two employer bankruptcies since 2007. But things have been going better financially recently so maybe we can splurge a little this year and do better than sharing what's left from a Happy Meal that we fished out of the trash at McDonalds for our anniversary dinner.
